Dennis Santiago
Dennis is a High Power rifle competitor and firearms instructor specializing in teaching courses for the U.S. Civilian Marksmanship Program. He was the Weapons Coordinator for Season 2 of History Channels "Top Shot" and organizes the shooting portion of the casting trials for that program.
Dennis Santiago Tactical Rifle Spec's
My tactical precision AR-15 is an experimental platform that has seen many iterations. It started as a mil-spec lower and A3 upper. It's been a backup Service Rifle, a Squad Designated Marksman training rifle with the requisite TA-01NSN ACOG, and a 5.56mm Tactical Precision Rifle --yes it will shoot accurately out to over 1,000 meters and garner Master scores at Mid-Range matches. I've been contemplating the inadequacies of the ACOG and backup sighting system for sometime.
So here we go. It now has:
- A free floated 20 inch DPMS 1-8 twist cyro'ed target barrel
- A rifle length Daniel Defense Omega handguard
- Of course there's a Geisselle trigger in there
- A MagPul PRS buttstock and nothing else. I do not believe in Christmas tree guns
The revised sight system is:
- A PRI picatinny rail gas block
- Dueck Defence RTS iron sights
- A Pride-Fowler 1-6X CQLR scope for most uses
- And (not seen) a Vortex 6-24X fine crosshair + center dot scope for Mid-Range
I use LaRue risers with the scopes pre-mounted on them to get it to the right height and so I can switch them quickly without losing zeroes.
