What's the difference between the Dueck Defense RTS sights and the other offset/BUIS sights?
The Dueck Defense RTS sights were designed to be both quick and efficient whether in a 3 Gun match or a tactical LE or Mil application. The standard M4/M16 iron sight design is used due to the wide familiarty with the sight picture, which results in a shorter learning curve and better efficiency when in use. The RTS sight design allows for extremely quick transition which is demonstrated by Keith Garcia HERE.
Are RTS sights ambidextrous?
Yes. RTS Sights can be mounted on either side of the upper picatinny rail. The RTS front sight is identical when mounted on the left or right side of your rifle. The rear functions perfectly mounted left or right, even though it's flipped around from the way the sight sits on an M16A2/A4 rifle when mounted on the left side. We have many customers running them in the left hand set up.
Some customers running the RTS left Handed prefer the Apperature flipped so it sits the same way as in the right hand set up. Flipping the apperature around is pretty easy to do if you are mechanically inclined however, we do provide service to those who request to have the apperature flipped around for a left hand set-up when you order a set from us. Just mention that under "comments" when ordering online and we will be sure to flip the apperature prior to shipping.
What's the effective range of this sight system?
(Question from Gabriel Perez on the Dueck Defense Facebook Page) Initially the sights were used for close range <50 yards targets, but at the 2011 Blue Ridge 3-Gun Barry found that he was able to shoot tighter groups at 200 yards with RTS than with a red dot. He won the Heavy Metal division using the red dot for the close targets and the RTS for the 100+ yard targets. The RTS sights are showing themsleves to be very versitile.
How easy is it to install the RTS?
Flat head screw driver is all it takes (you could also use a small coin).
